STEM Pillars Programs

Each program will focus on a different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) topic.
*These programs are free and are for parents and children ages 6-10 working together. Attendees receive free admission to the museum.

  • Weather Where I Am
    June 9, 10:30-11:45am

    How can a meteorologist use tools to make observations and predict tomorrow’s weather? Find out during 75 minutes of hands-on STEM learning with a meteorologist! This STEM Pillars program will focus on weather forecasting.

  • Engineering My World
    June 30, 10:30-11:45am

    How do engineers plan and build inventions? Find out during 75 minutes of hands-on learning with an engineer! This STEM Pillars program will focus on biomedical engineering.

  • My Happy Valley Sky
    July 7, 10:30-11:45am

    How do aerospace engineers build a space rover that can carry all an astronomer’s tools? Find out during 75 minutes of hands-on learning with an astronomer! This STEM Pillars program will focus on aerospace engineering.

  • Water Quality in My Community
    July 21, 10:30-11:45am

    How can we design our landscape to protect the water in our community? Find out during 75 minutes of hands-on learning with a water scientist! This STEM Pillars programs will focus on green building.

This is a Penn State research project so researchers will be present with video recorders. You can fully participate in the program without being part of the research.

Baby Explorers

Every Wednesday 10:30-11am

Visit with your baby to explore science together through books and movement. Perfect for adults with a 6-month to 2-year-old child.
Free with membership or paid admission.

Science Adventures

Every Thursday, 10:30-11am

Join us this season in Science Adventures as we explore the earth’s many diverse ecosystems. We’ll learn about the plants and animals living in the unique landscapes of forests, ponds, oceans, desserts, and the arctic.  Our free in-house preschool program, designed for 3-5 year olds, will offer a chance for caregivers to practice math, language, and fine motor skills with their children while exploring the natural world. Free with membership or paid admission.

For children 5 and under and their parent/guardians

Join us for a rhythmic good time every Friday! This program includes stories and musical explorations for children and adults to enjoy together.
